Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SETS PPWLA APART FROM THE OTHER LAGREE FITNESS STUDIOS NEARBY?
All Lagree Fitness studios are great because we all teach the same incredible regimen. So what makes our studio special? Here’s a tad of what we keep hearing…
• Our prices. Check for yourself.
• Trainers that watch your form/technique like hawks. And will diligently correct each one of you!
• ALL of the trainers are fantastic, not just some.
• Everything’s clean, and smells clean, all the time.
• There’s enough R O O M between the Proformers so you don’t have to touch your neighbors’ sweaty hands or feet every time you extend.
• Parking’s a breeze.
• Your email or missed call will never be ignored. Ever.

WHAT IS LAGREE FITNESS / PILATES PLUS?
Simply put, Lagree Fitness is a combination of weight training and Pilates set to high-energy music. The Lagree Method utilizes the best of both: the strengthening and toning benefits of weight training and the lengthening and postural enhancing benefits of Pilates in a circuit training sequence. Pilates Plus keeps the heart rate up and burns extra calories. The routines incorporate “old school” exercises such as pushups and lunges; however, the support of the Proformer™ eliminates the pressure on joints and the spine.

I HAVE NEVER DONE PILATES. CAN I DO THE CLASSES OR SHOULD I TAKE PRIVATE SESSIONS FIRST?
It depends on your fitness level, but if you’re new to the Proformer, it will be challenging regardless. The workout is intense and the transitions between exercises are quick, but the routine is kept simple to make sure everyone is using good form. If it is your first time with us, you must arrive 10 minutes early to get familiar with the surroundings and allow the trainer to get you acquainted with the Proformer. However, if you have chronic back pain, painful joints, a physical problem with which you are concerned, or a severe medical condition, please consult with our trainers before you sign up for your first class. It may be required that you take a private session first to assess your fitness level.

HOW DO I BOOK A CLASS?
Click Book Classes at the bottom of our home page. Then either 1) click on the Sign Up/Wait List bubble next to the class time you desire or 2) click on the Online Store tab in the upper right corner. Follow the prompts! It’s simple! You must make a purchase before you are able to book a class. Classes must be prepaid and booked before attending. **Although trainer schedules are as accurate as possible when posted for the month, they are subject to change without notice. Please note that you are ultimately signing up for a class time, not a particular trainer.

I PUT MYSELF ON THE WAIT LIST– HOW DOES IT WORK?
If a spot opens up more than 8 hours before class, you will automatically be added to that class and sent a confirmation email. BUT DO NOT DEPEND ON THAT EMAIL, as there are always spam problems, junk mail issues, and email server hiccups and crashes. You must sign in to your account 8 hours before class to see if you were enrolled or not. (Likewise, if you opted out of receiving emails from us when you created your account or thereafter, you will NOT get an email, but you will still be responsible for your booked spot in class.)
• If a spot opens up less than 8 hours before class, you will no longer be automatically enrolled. At the 8-hour mark, the Wait List turns off. This procedure protects you from being added to a class that you may no longer be able to attend with such short notice, avoiding possible Late Cancel/No Show fees. You, or anyone else, must book the spot as you normally would.
• If you reserve/Wait List yourself for more than one class in a day, or more than is ultimately allowed by your current package, you are responsible for the purchase of and any cancellation penalties for all classes that you reserve and get bumped into from the Wait Lists.

HOW DO I MAKE CHANGES TO MY RESERVATIONS?
Simple! Sign into your account, click on the “My Info” tab, then click “My Schedule”, and choose whatever action you’d like. To remove yourself from a Wait List, click on “Wait List” on the top right of your schedule. See? Easy!

WHERE IS NEXT MONTH’S CLASS SCHEDULE?
Schedules are posted for the following month midway through the current month. Although trainer schedules are as accurate as possible when posted for the month, they are subject to change without notice. Please note that you are ultimately signing up for a class time, not a particular trainer.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING (OR NOT) TO CLASS?
1. Most importantly, bring a positive attitude. The class is for you. You need to be present-minded when working out to maximize the benefits of the class.
2. Bring a towel as you will most likely sweat!
3. Water.
4. Wear loose, comfortable clothes that allow your muscles to stretch and your skin to “breathe”. We have a large dressing room for your convenience. You must wear specialty socks with rubber grip soles- no regular socks nor bare feet! (See our Gallery for photos.) Specialty socks with grip soles are available at some yoga/dance/martial arts stores, or at our studio for $16.
5. Jewelry is not a good idea. Your necklace may catch into the springs system (a nightmare to undo), or you may forget or lose it. It creates too many opportunities for disaster (we know because we’ve seen it too many times), but wearing jewelry is a choice for you to make.
6. No cell phone use during classes.  Please be respectful of others.
7. No strong perfumes or scented lotions as some students are allergic.

WHERE DO I PARK?
We have an underground parking lot that charges only $1/hr. with our validation. Entrance is on La Grange Ave. There’s also plenty of free street parking in the neighborhood, and metered spots on Westwood Blvd. and on La Grange. (Please pay close attention to parking restriction signs for all street parking.)

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE THE LAGREE METHOD?
The workout is designed to work your body to muscle fatigue at which point you need to rest. Depending on your fitness level and the intensity of your workout, you will need more or less time to recover. We recommend 2 to 3 times a week to allow your body to properly recover and repair. Listen to your body.

WHAT IF I CAN’T COME TO CLASS AND IT’S LESS THAN 8 HOURS AWAY? WILL I BE CHARGED?
Yes, even if it’s your first time. We absolutely require an 8-hour notice before making any kind of changes to your schedule. The same rules apply to all purchases, including Books of Classes, Limited/Unlimited Packages, and Specials.  Cancel at least 8 hours before scheduled class time through the online system to avoid the automatic Late Cancel fee of $15. If you do not cancel nor attend your class, an automatic No Show fee of $25 will be incurred. Loss of class credit cannot be substituted for penalty fee. NO EXCEPTIONS.

MAY I BRING MY CHILDREN TO CLASS IF THEY SIT QUIETLY WHILE I WORK OUT?
Honestly, we do love to meet your adorable little ones, but due to safety and insurance concerns we cannot allow children to stay in the studio while class is in session. It is not safe to have little hands near the machines, and we must respect all of our clients’ needs to remain focused and free from distraction while they are training. Same goes for all of your furry friends.

I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS AND/OR COMMENTS. HOW SHOULD I CONTACT PPWLA?
The best way to reach us is via email: inf[email protected]. But feel free to call the studio at any time. If we don’t pick up (often we cannot hear the telephone when class is in session!), please leave a detailed message. We pride ourselves in responding to client emails and voicemails promptly!
